The are some entertainment partnerships that were surely made in heaven and the duo Norman Shelley & Carleton Hobbs is no exception. Throughout the 50s and 60s they were THE Sherlock and Watson for BBC Radio having been brought together for the first time October 1952. Both were already established radio actors: Hobbs was a founding member of the BBC drama repertory company in 1939; the same year that Shelley created his famous Children's Hour role as Winnie-The-Pooh. But it's as the residents of 221B Baker Street that two will be immortalized; whom they portrayed for 17 years.

Sherlock's demise!

Years of tracking the evil Moriarty finally reach their apex in this episode. Sherlock deals a deadly blow to Moriarty's organization, causing him to be on the run from retaliation from the evil mastermind. Chased out of London, Watson and Sherlock head to Europe on foot in order to escape. Alas, they could not outwit the evil genius and finally Holmes and Moriarty go at it head to head.

It is with great remorse that Watson traces the clues that lead to the inevitable conclusion that Holmes died in a griplock with his nemesis while tumbling over Reichenbach Falls. It is such a sad end to the memorable life of Sherlock Holmes. A sad day for humanity.
